We are trying to get active members, and when I have not seen someone on in quite a while, I ask the other guildies if they have seen you.
Usually if that person is thought to be inactive we give them one more day. After that one day, and still no sign of activity, we send that person a message and kick them, the message usually says the reason and that you can rejoin if you are indeed active.
Secondly, it could have been an accident, and you may join back if you wish, sorry we just really need active people.
